Zander Ward Missing & Obituary: The body of Zander Benjamin Ward, an 18-year-old from Front Royal who had been reported missing, was discovered on Guard Hill Road. Major Kevin Nicewarner of the Front Royal Police Department confirmed that Ward’s body was found on a gravel lot in the 3900 block of Guard Hill Road, near a cell tower across from the Elks Lodge.
Chief Kahle Magalis stated that the discovery followed a report made to the Front Royal Police Department. There were no signs indicating that anyone else had been with Ward or that foul play was involved.
Typically, cases like this are handled without public disclosure, but Ward’s case gained considerable community attention because he was classified as “endangered” due to suspected suicidal tendencies. The department relied heavily on community assistance during the search, Nicewarner added.
Ward was last seen leaving his residence and was later spotted at a Sheetz convenience store in Front Royal. On Thursday afternoon, members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Fire and Rescue Department were present at the scene where Ward’s family members had gathered.
