Somerset Fire Department Extinguishes Blaze That Damages Home and Displaces Family of Five

Crews responded to a significant fire in Somerset on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting flames at 140 Lucy Lane. Fortunately, all occupants of the home were able to evacuate safely.

Although the fire originated in the back deck area, it quickly spread to the second floor and the roof. By around 1:45 p.m., firefighters reported that the blaze had been brought under control.

While the Somerset Fire Department has not yet determined the cause of the fire, scanner transmissions and a witness indicated that it began at a pool heating pump before rapidly spreading both outside and inside the home.
