Brooklyn police are searching for the person they believe to be responsible for the shooting death of a teenager that occurred on Saturday evening at a public housing project. The Whitman Houses, located at 32 Auburn Place in Fort Greene, were the location of the homicide that took place on October 26 at approximately 11:44 p.m., according to sources within law enforcement.
When officers from the 88th Precinct and NYPD PSA 3 responded to a 911 call regarding the shooting, they discovered a child who was 15 years old and had been shot in the chest during the incident.
The child was taken by emergency medical services to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. He was identified as Malachi DeBerry.
The investigation is still underway, and according to the police, there have been no arrests made so yet.
