John Michael Enright, 34, of Farmington, CT, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. He was born on July 12, 1990, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to John Lewis and Susan McLoughlin Enright of Stratford.
John attended St. Mark’s School and Bunnell High School in Stratford, Connecticut, before earning his Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communication from Marist College. During his time at Marist, he formed lifelong friendships and was a proud member of “John Enright & His Merry Men,” an intramural dodgeball team.

After graduation, John landed his dream job as a creative producer at ESPN, where he always felt he grew up. Among his fondest memories were meeting his wife, animator Amanda Wagner Enright. The couple married on Cape Cod last year, and John cherished becoming a father to their dog, Frito.
During his 12-year tenure at ESPN, John was instrumental in overseeing the creative execution and strategy for high-profile projects, including Monday Night Football, NBA coverage, and SportsCenter. He approached each day with enthusiasm, eager to bring people together. Known for his mentorship, he had a special fondness for entry-level staff, dedicating time to their development. Along with five Emmy Awards, his enduring legacy lies in the kindness he showed to everyone he encountered, regardless of their position.

A passionate sports fan, John was a devoted supporter of the New England Patriots and his beloved Mets. He eagerly anticipated college basketball season, counting down to March Madness each year. In addition to sports, he enjoyed reading about Star Wars and American history and loved watching Marvel films.

John will be remembered for his warm-hearted personality and infectious laugh. Throughout his brief illness, he demonstrated remarkable humility, maintaining his sweet smile and courteous demeanor, and embodying fierce hope until his final breath.
