James Farquhar arrested in Geelong stabbing incident that killed Jayme Sykes

At around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, a fatal stabbing occurred in Geelong, leading Victorian homicide investigators to charge a man with murder. Police discovered Jayme “Chugs” Sykes with stab wounds on Little Malop Street. Despite being quickly taken to the hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

While details of the incident remain under investigation, two other men involved in the altercation were treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Monday morning, a 26-year-old man from Colac in Victoria’s Western District surrendered to police and has since been charged with murder. He was identified on social media as James Farquhar. Photographs from the scene showed blood on a garden wall outside a state government building on Little Malop Street, as well as smeared on a shop window about 250 meters away on Downes Lane.
