Pete Blomberg Accident Newtown: Officials have reported that an accident on Route 6 on Monday night resulted in the tragic death of the assistant fire chief of a Newtown volunteer fire department.
The police department stated that following the crash, which occurred at 6:15 p.m., Church Hill Road, commonly known as Route 6, was closed for several hours. Authorities confirmed that a pedestrian, who sustained injuries in the incident, was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Peter Blomberg, 72, of Newtown, who served as the assistant fire chief of the Botsford Fire Department.
Botsford Fire Rescue expressed their gratitude for the support from the community, stating on Facebook, “We appreciate the outpouring of support so far and ask for your thoughts and prayers. Our deepest sympathies and appreciation go out to the Blomberg family during this difficult time.”
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
