Dr. Gillian West Obituary & Death: It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Gillian West on Thursday, October 24, 2024, after a brief battle with illness, as confirmed by Millbrook Medical Centre in a social media post.
Dr. West joined Millbrook as a Junior Doctor to complete her training and continued her journey as a Salaried GP after qualification, eventually becoming a GP Partner. Her loss leaves a significant void in the Millbrook team, as she was not only an outstanding GP but also a cherished friend and colleague, deeply missed by many.
“We are heartbroken to share the news of Dr. West’s passing. Her impact will be felt throughout the Kirkby & Knowsley primary care community. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
In related news, officials reported that an accident on Route 6 on Monday night resulted in the tragic death of the assistant fire chief of a Newtown volunteer fire department.
The police department stated that following a crash at 6:15 p.m., Church Hill Road, commonly known as Route 6, was closed for several hours. Authorities confirmed that a pedestrian, who sustained injuries in the incident, was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Peter Blomberg, 72, of Newtown, who served as the assistant fire chief of the Botsford Fire Department.
Botsford Fire Rescue expressed their gratitude for the community’s support, stating on Facebook, “We appreciate the outpouring of support so far and ask for your thoughts and prayers. Our deepest sympathies and appreciation go out to the Blomberg family during this difficult time.”
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
