Berkeley Death: Student Passed Away by suicide at parking garage near Residence Hall Unit 3

A male student at the University of California, Berkeley, has tragically died on Tuesday evening. UC Berkeley Police and EMS were dispatched to Residence Hall Unit 3 following reports of a jumper.

The student, identified only as a university attendee, jumped from the fourth floor of the parking garage adjacent to the dormitory on Durant Avenue. Arriving officers attempted CPR, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have indicated that there is no foul play involved in the student’s death.

His identity will be released pending notification of next of kin. UC Berkeley is encouraging students to seek help if they are experiencing feelings of depression or suicidal thoughts. A police cordon was established around the parking lot as law enforcement responded to the incident.

What Happened at UC Berkeley?

According to officials, the victim was a young male. When officers arrived, they found him bleeding from his injuries after jumping from the parking garage. An EMS responder reported, “Life-saving measures were administered, but he died on the spot.”
