Robertson added, “So many people found comfort in the way he interacted with his patients, offering them not just his expertise but also a sense of trust. We’re all incredibly grateful to have been his partners and colleagues throughout his career.”
Dr. Howard Hayashi’s impact on the community will be felt for generations. “No one will take his place. That part will be sorely missed,” Andersen expressed. “He was so well-known that people wanted him as their surgeon.”
Nancy Steffora shared her memories of working with Dr. Hayashi at the Coastal Surgical Institute, recalling, “When I came to Arroyo Grande in 1998, I met Dr. Howard Hayashi for the first time. His compassion and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him, including myself. His unwavering dedication was evident; he was always there for his community, helping families in ways that changed many lives, even making house calls when patients fell ill. He truly was a blessing to many on the Central Coast, generously giving of his time and presence.”
