Brent Berkeley killed in Plymouth MA Shooting, David Gerome arrested

Authorities have identified both the victim and the suspect involved in Friday afternoon’s fatal shooting in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The victim, 41-year-old Brent Berkley, tragically lost his life, while 23-year-old David Gerome has been taken into custody and faces charges including murder, reckless endangerment of a child, and other related offenses.

According to officials, the incident began with a minor traffic collision that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, ultimately leading to the fatal shooting. Gerome, who had a valid firearms license, was reportedly traveling with his 18-month-old child in the car at the time of the altercation.

Jake Hill, a close friend of Berkley’s, shared a heartfelt tribute: “Brent Berkley went to every show of mine he possibly could for well over 20 years. He was the most supportive person of the scene possible. Always excited to see you and to help if possible. I am gutted at his passing. All my love to Jessie & the kids and the Speedwell family. Plymouth lost a very real one yesterday. Life is so precious. Goodbye, old friend.”

Witnesses described a chaotic and terrifying scene, as the incident unfolded during the city’s dinnertime rush. Berkley was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gerome was taken into custody without resistance, and police continue to investigate. Further details about the incident and charges will be released as the investigation progresses.
