A tragic motorcycle accident on Somers Road Friday afternoon claimed the life of 27-year-old Amanda Santiago, a Springfield, Massachusetts resident, Enfield police confirmed.

The crash occurred around 1:20 p.m. when the motorcycle Santiago was riding as a passenger collided with another vehicle. She was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, but despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead.

The motorcycle’s driver, 31-year-old Jose Del Rosario Collazo Jr., also from Massachusetts, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
