Anthony Villeda Car Accident, Death: The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that a pickup truck driver was killed in a collision with a semi-truck in Iredell County on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred on October 27, just after 4 p.m. on U.S. 64, near Lippard Farm Road, west of Statesville. According to state troopers, a 2005 Ford F-250 was traveling west when it attempted to pass other vehicles in a no-passing zone.
The Ford collided with a 2025 Peterbilt semi-truck traveling westbound without a trailer.
Anthony Drake Villeda, 30, from Hiddenite, was driving the Ford and was pronounced dead at the scene. A minor passenger in the vehicle was unharmed.
The 54-year-old driver of the Peterbilt, also a Hiddenite resident, sustained no injuries.
Preliminary investigations by troopers indicate that reckless and careless driving contributed to the crash. The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced that U.S. 64 was closed in the area following the incident. No charges will be filed in this case.
