Damon Phares Death & Obituary Delaware: The Delaware State Police have identified the pedestrian who tragically lost his life in a collision on October 29th on I-95 in New Castle as 49-year-old Damon Phares of Newark, Delaware. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, conducted by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Details of the Incident

The fatal collision occurred around 9 p.m. when a Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling in the right northbound lane of I-95, north of Churchmans Road. At that time, Damon Phares was attempting to cross the northbound lanes from his disabled vehicle, which was parked on the left shoulder, to reach the east side of the road. Unfortunately, as he crossed, he entered the path of the approaching Freightliner, resulting in the tragic accident.

Response and Investigation

Emergency personnel pronounced Phares dead at the scene, and his identity was withheld until his family was notified. The driver of the Freightliner, a 52-year-old resident of Milford, was unharmed in the incident. In the aftermath, the area was closed for approximately two and a half hours as investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.
