A tragic death by suicide was reported at Vanderbilt University on the morning of Thursday, October 31. Officials responded to the scene, though the identity of the victim has not been released.
In response to such incidents, the MAPS program—a partnership between the Center for Student Wellbeing (CSW) and the University Counseling Center (UCC) at Vanderbilt University—works to raise mental health awareness and prevent suicide on campus. Funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, MAPS focuses on educating and engaging the Vanderbilt community in mental health support.
