On Wednesday morning, Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange temporarily went into lockdown. Authorities have since confirmed that the campus is safe and there was no actual threat.
The school released a statement saying, “At approximately 10:25 a.m., students, faculty, and staff responded to a lockdown announcement over the PA system. The West Orange Police Department thoroughly investigated, and it was determined there was no legitimate threat. Police and SHP security swept the building, confirming all is safe.”
Faculty members are informing students that it is safe to return to campus. Parents are encouraged to notify their sons if they can reach them.
Students should re-enter through Door 1. Parents who have already picked up their sons or upperclassmen who have driven home are excused from classes for the remainder of the day. Afternoon buses will run on their regular schedules.
